The Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa, also known as the Subclass 482 visa, is a great opportunity for highly skilled professionals who want to work in Australia. There are 3 different visa streams: Short-term, Medium-term and Labour Agreement. This visa is temporary, and you can stay in the country for as long as your approved nomination allows. But here's the exciting part: after three years, some lucky people may be eligible for permanent residency. So, get ready to pack your bags, brush up on your Aussie slang, and start your adventure Down Under!
When applying for an employ-sponsored visa, it's important to ensure that your occupation is on the approved list of skilled occupations. You also need a positive skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority to showcase your skills and expertise to the Australian government, similar to an audition.
Having competent English language skills is the minimum requirement for all skilled visas, including employ-sponsored visas. However, obtaining proficient or superior scores in an English test can earn you additional points towards your application. Having strong English language skills is essential when applying for any of these visas.
TSS visa holders who are eligible and have an occupation listed on the Regional Occupation List can apply through the Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream of the Employ Nomination Scheme (ENS). However, it's important to note that this pathway will only be available for two years, starting from its launch on 1 July 2022.
